Ibom Air, the Akwa Ibom carrier has become a full member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). A statement by the airline over the weekend, said that Ibom Air was welcomed to the body of IATA by Mr. Willy Walsh, the Director-General of IATA via a letter dated August 15, 2023.

Commenting on the development, Mr. George Uriesi, the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Ibom Air, expressed delight with the addition of the airline to the international association. He said: “We are delighted to have completed the administrative processes and to now become a full member of IATA. Apart from the multiple benefits Ibom Air stands to gain as a member of the association, our membership particularly offers a whole new world of cooperation opportunities in the international airline community. “We intend to tap fully into these as we expand our footprint into the region and continent.” He said.
