CHILDRENS DAY: FRSC, Ifo Unit Command Organises Training on Safety Tips for Students

As part of efforts to ensure their safety on the road, Ifo Unit Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) organised training on road safety tips for students of Tofem College Atila Agbado, Ogun State.

The event, which was held recently, was part of the command’s activities to mark this year’s Children’s Day celebration. The pupils were enlightened on safety tips while using the road, in the car, rudiments of crossing the road and importance of using the pedestrian bridges when crossing the highway.

Assistant Route Commander (ARC) Caroline Bello who represented the Unit Commander, ACC Uten Meeme at the event, said: “If we catch the children young at this age, I’m sure the road will be safer for them. She described children as most treasured possession on earth.

She hinted that the training was designed to catch the children young and create a safer motoring environment, adding that the safety tips was to educate the children about the rules and regulations that guided the use of roads.

“Road crash has been identified as the second leading cause for death of children and young adults in Nigeria and the world generally,” she said. She advised the pupils to always be careful when crossing the road and that they should encourage their parents to use seat belt, avoid driving against traffic, driving under the influence of alcohol/ drugs, and not speed whenever they are taking them to school or wherever
